The Big Friendly Street-Band
"Lady-birds and Gentle-bees,
I is very full of happiness to present to you our small giants,
blowing their brassophorns and rumblumbling their rumblumdrums for you :
the Big Friendly Street-Band !
Coming from Newton Fairies and Noss Mayonnaise in Devonshiner,
your jumble sergeant, Vincent"
We practice every Thursday in Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo primary school, learning fun tunes from around the world or composed specially for us. We learn by ear or with music sheets and always play by heart !
We are very proud to help promoting Street band in education with the organisation
The Sound of the Streets based in Somerset. Check the dedicated web page bellow (clic on it)
We have performed for many events, such as the Queen Jubilee - bon fire nights - village fayres - primary schools summer fairs - Pope's Quay 40th birthday - twinning party - King Coronation - Christmas celebrations...
and twice for the International Sound of the Streets festival in Taunton !
The Big Friendly Street-Band is organised by the South Devon Street-Band Cic.
We have received fundings from the South Hams District council, the Devon County Council, the Newton & Noss Parish Council, and from private donors.
We are also a proud funded partner of the Devon and Torbay Music Education Hubs as an ensemble.
